This is a Canada Summer Jobs Position, the successful applicant will be 15-30 years old, however does not need to be returning to school. The position is 30 hours per week, with some weekend work. The position is available currently
through the end of August. The position will be scaled and modified in complexity to meet the age, skills and experience of the successful applicant. The hourly rate is $22 to $24 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Job Summary

The Event Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, delivery, and overall presentation of community programs, heritage activities, and special events hosted by the Bridge River Valley Community Association (BRVCA).

This position plays an important role in ensuring that residents and visitors of all ages—children, youth, adults, and seniors—have access to safe, engaging, and meaningful experiences throughout the summer season. 

Key duties include assisting with the coordination and execution of significant community events, including Canada Day, the Summerfest Arts and Culture Festival, Art Walk, Mining for Gold Writers Festival, and Haylmore Heritage Days.

The Activities and Events Coordinator helps plan activity schedules, prepare event spaces, organize materials, and support on-site operations to ensure events run smoothly and create a welcoming atmosphere for participants. 

The role also involves delivering heritage and tourism programming activities at local sites. This includes leading or assisting with heritage and geological interpretation, guiding energy and gold-placer mine tours, engaging visitors in gold-panning demonstrations, and providing general information about the area’s history, culture, and natural features.

 The Activities and Events Coordinator collaborates with local artisans and vendors to help support vibrant on-site programming and enhance experiences.  

 Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records of activities and attendance and assisting with the upkeep and cleanliness of program areas to ensure safe, inviting spaces for participants.

 The Activities and Events Coordinator may also help promote events through social media posts, posters, newsletters, and the distribution of tourism materials.
