The Bear Committee has 2 contracts available to remove bear attractants in Gold Bridge and Bralorne.
Locations outside of the burn area may see an increase in bear activity over the next few years due to the large scale food shortages around Gun Lake, Gun Creek Rd and the Slim FSR areas. We need to encourage bears to stay out of communities by removing the attractants. It’s going to be a tough few years for the bears.
This contract will involve the following:
– Map out bear attractants in each town site
– Contact property owners to get permission to pick the fruit
– Organize a team of volunteer gleaners to remove fruit
– Distribute the picked fruit between owners/pickers and any other options that arise
– Submit map of attractants and report back to the Bear Committee
– $500 per each contract for Bralorne and Gold Bridge
